OLD SCHOOL KINGZ

Throw Ups

The history of the "throw-up" started with writers in the 70's doing quick "bubble-letter" pieces to "get-up" fast.  The first writer and crew to take this form of "bombing" to a new level was, IN-1 & THE TOP CREW.  Their goal was to take over the whole subway system.   They accomplished this  by inventing the two-letter throw-up which helped them become "All-city" kings in the mid 1970's.  Many writers used this concept and took it to a new level.  Originality is also very important and writers could be criticized for having a "whack" "throwie"

With a little from MIN he would return with the RTW crew and go All City with a very unique throw up style.

OLD SCHOOL COME BACK!

Recent throwie done by RC 2 in the South Bronx New york, who was a member of the TOP crew as well as JESTER's crew TC in the mid 1970's.

In mid 1985, IZ THE WIZ  gave up his reign of the A-line left the the to two up and coming subway killers, AI and AZ. The two started the group KSW which members included the late MEGA-1. The two specialized in doing stretch out throwies on the ding-dongs as well as just doing throwies down in a row on one car after another.  MED and FAYDE  made a strong All City campaign on the A's as well as the CC's in 1986.

Tearing up the GG's  in 1984.

In  1983 to 1984 the F's and GG's belonged to the GND crew.  Trike the original member of group took over the F's with a new squad of members that included SET 3and SAKE. There was not one train that year where you could not see there names on it. One of Sakes claims to fun was appearing with the 3rd base rap video, Stepping in to the Am, where he was seen bombing a train.

TRIKE ; I  returned to New York in 1983 after a 5 year lay off and  meet two up and coming writers… SET 3 and SAKE 1. It didn’t take long for these two guys to convince me to start writing again. I  started bombing the IND’s and BMT’s with these guys. Unlike many of the dudes from the early 70's…I continued to bomb until the late 80's, therefore adapting and staying current with the changing of styles.

RO aka RISCO, PEEK  and  DEAK aka PG 3.

In 1980's  RISCO made the fresh pound yard his second home, which held the M- trains. He building was located in the back of the yard and was know to climb right down his fire escape that leed him right in to the yard and bomb all night. Risco's partner was a writer by the name of DAB, but went hitting with many others such as; IZ , KIK, SIKO and members of the TKC crew. One of Risco's claims to fame was appearing in the film WILD STYLE, where in the beginning of the film his tags and throwies appear on an M-train while LEE enters the yard. PEAK took king of the M-line along with PG 3 in 1982, one of PG's alias was "DEAK", which inspired Peak to choice his name.
